Referring to the issues highlighted by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the 6th Turkic Council Summit held on 3 September 2018 in Cholpon-Ata, Secretary General informed the Foreign Minister on the current initiatives undertaken by the Turkic Council especially in the field of economy aiming at increasing trade turnover, establishing institutionalized ties among the private sectors of the Turkic Speaking States as well as diversifying financial resources provided to the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

In this framework, the Parties exchanged views on the involvement of Uzbekistan in the substantial undertakings of the Secretariat such as as holding a meeting of the Turkic Business Council and an annual business forum of Turkic Speaking countries in Tashkent in 2019 on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Secretary General B. Amreyev also briefed The Foreign Minister Kamilov on the present efforts of the Secretariat for establishment of the Joint Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Foreign Minister Kamilov noted that the dynamic trends currently observed in activities of the Turkic Council are of considerable interest to Uzbekistan and the country is determined to be part of this process and develop cooperation in the areas of mutual interest whereas the economic cooperation certainly is a priority. He also invited Secretary General to Tashkent to further discuss cooperation opportunities within the framework of these initiatives.

Secretary General was accompanied by Project Director Ozge Pan during the meeting.
