Secretary General participated at the 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers

Secretary General of Organization of Turkic States, H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated and made a statement at the 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers held on 24 January 2023 in Tashkent under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Briefing about activities of OTS and progress in achieving progress in multifaced economic cooperation within Organization, Secretary General touched upon importance of further integration and collaboration of OTS with regional organizations and institutions in the issues of mutual interest. Stating that the Member States of the OTS are concurrently members of ECO, Ambassador Omuraliev expressed that OTS highly value partnership with ECO and ready to further develop cooperation in the upcoming period, in order to achieve goals in the shared geography.

The ECO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in their statements emphasized the necessity of activization join activities in the ECO region and establishing solid platform in priority issues of cooperation in the areas of trade, transport, investment, food security, green energy, digitalization, environment protection and others, as well as summed up the results of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the ECO.

As an outcome, the Foreign Ministers of ECO adopted Tashkent communique, and important decisions on “Establishment of the high-level dialogue platform on environmental cooperation” and “Establishment of the regional center for risk management of natural disasters”.
