Secretary General’s Message on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Secretary General’s Message on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Today we are celebrating with joy the Independence Day of our Member State, holding the current Chairmanship of the Turkic Council, the Republic of Azerbaijan. On this glorious day, I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan and to its Government.
The soil of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been a place of signing of Turkic Council’s founding document, namely the Nakhchivan Agreement and a few days ago it successfully hosted again the 7th Summit of the Turkic Council, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of that great event. This Summit has marked significant and historical developments including the enlargement of the Organization with the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
We are so proudly witnessing the great strides in economic and social fields made by Azerbaijan that became a factor of stability and peace in our region, under astute leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The political and economic development of our Member States and their strong position in the international arena reinforce the power of the Turkic Council and strengthen our institution in the same way. The strength of our members is our strength; their progress is our progress, which definitely contributes to our unity and solidarity.
Being confident of its bright future, I would like to congratulate once again our Founding Member holding the current Chairmanship of the Turkic Council, the Republic of Azerbaijan and express my firm belief that we will continue to undertake effective and important activities during its Chairmanship-in-Office.
Baghdad Amreyev
Turkic Council Secretary General
