Shahdakh Ski Resort of Azerbaijan and Shymbulak Ski Resort of Kazakhstan have embarked on a pioneering project to establish the Alliance of Ski Resorts of Turkic States. The respective Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 24 November 2023 in Baku.

Being part of a broader initiative to enhance and develop ski tourism within the OTS, the project will be further expanded with the participation of other ski resorts across the Turkic states. The project targets to increase tourist flow and promote regional tourism destinations through establishing stronger ties between ski centers, prioritizing ski tourism development, and enhancing the expertise of professionals in the field.

The project aims at the implementation of the decisions taken during the 8th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Tourism of the OTS convened on 11 October 2023 in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
