The 12th Meeting of the Turkic Council Working Group on Tourism was completed in Almaty with important decisions on strengthening tourism on the Silk Road.
The 12th Meeting of the Turkish Council Tourism Working Group was completed in Kazakhstan Hotel in Almaty on 8 June 2018. The two-day meeting focused on the Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package Project, which was initiated in line with the instructions of the Heads of the States og the Turkic Council Member States at its 4th Summit held in Bodrum in 2014. On the second day of the meeting, the existing promotional strategy regarding the promotion of the Joint Tour Package in the Member States and all over  the world was reviewed and the fairs to be attended and the activities to be carried out in the forthcoming period were determined. Also, it was decided to initiate the formation of tourist groups for the Kyrgyz-Kazakh joint tours, to coincide with the 3rd World Nomadic Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in the beginning of next September. 

Furthermore, TRT  Avaz,  preparing a documentray about the said Joint Tour, has completed successfully its part in Kyrgyzstan and it was agreed that filming will continue in Turkey, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. It was also agreed that the training programmes organized by Turkey for the other Member States in service sector will be broadened by including the tour guides in the coming period. The continuation of the ongoing cooperation with the UN World Tourism Organization and the UN Office of South South Cooperation in the field of tourism, constituted another issue discussed during the meeting.  It was also one of the key decisions taken at the meeting to take the necessary steps to include Uzbekistan in this Joint Tour in cooperation with its relevant tourism authorities in the coming period. As it will be recalled topical developments take place  in the process of Uzbekistan`s becoming a member of the Turkic Council.

The Fourth Meeting of the Turkic Council Tourism Ministers is scheduled to be held in Astana in the first half of August 2018.
