Opening remarks made by Yeraly Tugzhanov, Mayor of the Mangystau Region, Republic of Kazakhstan, Abay Turikpenbaev, Director General of the Aktau Port, Rakhmetolla Kudaibergenov, Secretary General of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Rory James Doyle, Managing Director, of Transport Events Limited (Malaysia).
A two days Conference (attended by) featured three hundred participants from fifteen countries of the world, including senior government officials, representatives of logistics companies, region’s leading shippers, ports, terminal operating companies, railway operators, port equipment and services suppliers from countries throughout the Caspian region. About 30 world-class transportation and logistics conference speakers from China, Austria, Italy, Estonia, Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan addressed topical issues on opportunities for containerization and development of infrastructure in Caspian and Black Sea as a link of international trade between Central-East Europe and Central Asia, reviving traditional transport corridors between Asia and Europe through integrated transport solutions, trade developments in the Caspian region and find solutions aimed at developing and improving trade routes between Asia and Europe, technology innovations as the key enabler that unlock potentials for emerging ports.
The event showed an interest in the actively developing and economically advantageous Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Moreover, the Forum provided networking and business opportunities for ongoing or future projects along the route.
The 6 Session of the Conference initiated by Turkic Council dedicated to “National and international perspectives on the development of logistic infrastructure along Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor”.
The Session was opened by keynote speeches of Gismat Gozalov, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Kayriden Nurkenov, Deputy Chairman of Transport Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and followed by presentations by Baku Sea Trade Port, Aktau Port, Aktau North Terminal, Port Kuryk, Samsun Port, International Freight Forwarders Association (UND) of Turkey and “AZERSUN” Centre of Production and Logistics.
This session was served as a platform where the speakers from Turkic Council Member States demonstrated their transport and logistic infrastructure capacities, current projects such as establishment of Free Trade Zones in the territory of the ports that would serve to attract more cargo movement across the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. Director of Strategy and Business Development of the International Freight Forwarders Association (UND) of Turkey, Fatih Shener highlighted the challenges faced by logistic companies and measures to facilitate cargo transportation processes along Trans-Caspian Corridor. He also shared his views on the development of regional transit-related strategies for the improvement of multimodal transport between the members of the Turkic Council.
The speakers stressed that the actors in the Middle Corridor should further continue their activities on the facilitation of cargo transportation and carry out the necessary steps to increase the effectiveness of the route.
An exhibition was also organized within the framework of "Caspian Ports and Shipping - 2019 Conference".
