The 2nd Meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Organization of Turkic States “Legal Regulations and Country Practices on International Judicial Assistance & Challenges and Solutions” was held on 23 October 2023 in Ankara, Türkiye.
Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Attorney General of the Kyrgyz Republic, President of the Supreme Court of Appeal and General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Türkiye, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Minister of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye, Secretary General and Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Prosecutor General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Executive Director and General Counsel of the International Association of Prosecutors were participated the Meeting.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev had a speech during the meeting and emphasized that current meeting of the Council of the Prosecutors General of the Organization of Turkic States will further strengthen the cooperation and advancing the exchange of practices among the Prosecutors General and stressed that the Secretariat of the OTS will also stand ready to support the cooperation activities within the Council of Prosecutors General of the OTS. At the same time, he suggested to produce an “action plan” which contains the activities among the Prosecutors General Offices and ensures making necessary follow-up and report in the Summits of the OTS and in this context, to establish an “expert group” comprising one expert from each Party and the Secretariat to come together to work on the realization of the decisions taken at the expert group.
The Participants presented information about activities of their Prosecutors General in bilateral and multilateral levels and stressed importance of the cooperation within the framework the OTS.
Moreover, Parties agreed to change the name and logo of the Council of Prosecutors General of the OTS due changing the name of Organization from “the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States” to “the Organization of Turkic States” in 2021. At the same time, by the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, Parties decided to convene the next-3th Meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the OTS in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2024.
