Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated in the opening ceremony of the 2nd Turkic World Medical Congress and Uzbekistan-Türkiye Health Forum organized in the margins of the 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on 16 August 2023 in Samarkand.
In his opening remarks, the Secretary General emphasized that the Turkic States have shown remarkable unity during recent pandemic and earthquakes, demonstrating the power of solidarity and the importance of working together to protect their populations.
He stated the need to invest in cutting-edge research, foster innovation ecosystems, and strengthen collaboration through share best practices, exchange medical expertise, and collaborate on joint research initiatives.
Emphasizing the efforts and contribution of the Ministries of Health of Uzbekistan and Turkey in organizing the Congress and Forum, Ambassador Omuraliev noted that these events provide an excellent opportunity for the Turkic region to shape the landscape of the health system, develop ideas, partnerships and implement specific projects.
The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Dr Amrillo Inoyatov stressed that this event takes place on the birthday of an outstanding scientist, the founder of modern medicine, great ancestor Abu Ali ibn Sino, who was born in the ancient land of Maverannahr.
Health Ministers from OTS Member States touched upon the importance of collaboration in development of a strong healthcare system in the Turkic region, by exchange of knowledge, students and best practices, determination of common standards of medical education, ensuring supply chain of medicines, medical equipment, as well as establishing Medical Rescue Team for Turkic States and joint production of medical supplies. It was also stressed the importance of using information and communication technologies in healthcare, which makes it possible the cross-border exchange of medical data on patient's health with the development of Unified Electronic Health Standards within the Organization.
Then, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented the Ministers of Health and Secretary General of the OTS with the awards for the special contribution to the development of the international cooperation in medicine.
After the award ceremony, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition stands of the Uzbekistan-Türkiye Health Forum, organized in parallel with the Turkic World Medical Congress, as well as exchanged views with the representatives of the companies participating in the exhibition.
The event was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, rectors and professors of leading higher medical educational institutions, heads of prestigious medical clinics, research institutes, specialized medical centers, large pharmaceutical and medical companies, scientists from around the world.
