The 39th Meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has started at the premises of the OTS Secretariat in Istanbul.
Before his opening speech, the OTS Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev invited the participants of the meeting for a minute of silence for the victims of earthquakes that affected south and southeastern provinces of Türkiye.
The Secretary General Omuraliev expressed his condolences for the victims of the earthquakes and stated that the Turkic world shared the pain of their Turkish brothers and sisters. The Secretary General provided insights about his trip to the earthquake zone and emphasized that the countries of the OTS showed unwavering solidarity with the people and Government of the brotherly Republic of Türkiye.
The 39th OTS Senior Officials Committee Meeting is being held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in its capacity as the Chairperson of the OTS in accordance with the new Rules of Procedure of the Organization. The situation in the earthquake zone and other priority agenda items of the OTS, the implementation of the decisions of the Samarkand Summit as well as the preparations to the upcoming Summit in Ankara will be discussed at the meeting.
The high-level representatives from the Foreign Ministries of the OTS Member States and OTS officials are attending the meeting.
