The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated in the 3rd Meeting of Ministers in charge of Agriculture of the Organization of Turkic States and the 3rd Turkic Agro Business Forum which successfully convened on 20 March 2024 in Taraz, Kazakhstan.
The main topic of the Ministerial Meeting was the development of mutual trade in agricultural products in the OTS region. A Communiqué that was adopted by the Ministers at the end of the meeting reflected the main objectives and the implementation of the decisions and initiatives taken. The Ministers declared the city of Taraz of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the agro-capital of the OTS starting from September 2024.
At the 3rd Turkic Agro Business Forum held right after the ministerial meeting, the representatives from across the Turkic world actively engaged and dedicated to advancing agricultural innovation and sustainability of the agricultural development in the OTS region.
As part of the Ministerial Meeting, the OTS Secretary General also held bilateral meetings with H.E. Aidarbek Saparov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and H.E. Erbol Karashukeev, Akim of the Zhambyl Region. During the meeting Parties made fruitful discussions and exchanged their views on strengthening cooperation in this important field. The Parties agreed to continue efforts and activities to improve agricultural productivity, increase exports, facilitate trade and enhance competitiveness of agricultural products, promote digitalization and food security in the OTS region.
