The 4th World Nomad Games, which was decided to be held in Türkiye by the Heads of State at the 6th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Cholpan-Ata in 2018, has started with a magnificent opening ceremony in İznik, Bursa.
Representing the common cultural heritage of the Turkic world, the Nomad Games is organized with aim to revive the spiritual consciousness and historical memory of the Turkic peoples. This year, more than 3,000 athletes from 102 countries take part in the Games.
The opening ceremony was held with the participation of President of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Sadyr Japarov, President of TRNC, H.E. Ersin Tatar, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of Tatarstan, H.E. Rustem Minnihanov, President of Gagauz Autonomous Region H.E. Irina Vlah, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan H.E. Yerlan Koshanov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan H.E. Farid Gayıbov, Minister of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan H.E. Adkham Ikramov, Chairman of the Council of Elders of OTS H.E.Binali Yıldırım, President of the World Ethnosport Confederation, Mr. Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan and the ministers and high level officials from the countries all over the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underlined the importance of the organization of the Games in terms of its mission to convey the ancient heritage of humanity to future generations, as well as promotion and publicity of the Turkic culture all over the world. President Erdoğan congratulated everyone who contributed to the realization of this programme and wished success to the athletes, who will compete in the games, and to the participants, who will take part in other events.
Secretary General Amreyev welcomed the high level guests at the main traditional tent allocated to the Organization of Turkic States where heads of delegations met and exchanged views about the Games.
The Organization of Turkic States has been giving strong support, including contributing and taking part in the preparatory process for the organization of the World Nomad Games since 2012.
The World Nomad Games were hosted by Kyrgyzstan in 2014, 2016 and 2018 and is now being held outside of Kyrgyzstan for the first time.
