The Eighth Meeting of the Turkic Council Working Group on Customs Cooperation was held on 11 May 2017 in Antalya, Turkey.

The Eighth Meeting of the Turkic Council Working Group on Customs Cooperation was held on 11 May 2017 in Antalya, Turkey.
During the meeting, the Turkic Council delegation headed by Dr. Ömer Kocaman along with the experts coming from the customs institutions of the Turkic Council member states discussed the issues specified in the agenda of the Working Group Meeting.

In particular, the parties briefed on the field visits to Kazakh-China and Kyrgyz-China borders and made assessments on the results of the previous reports of field visits under Caravanserai Project.

The customs authorities also deliberated on other aspects of the agenda such as Build-Operate-Transfer model, MoU on Customs Enforcement, organization of Training Programs in the field of customs and the launch of Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Trade Caravan Demonstration Tour.

Similarly, the delegations emphasized on the importance to enhance cooperation regarding Authorized Economic Operator Systems and organize joint workshop with the WCO.

The Working Group Meeting will be followed by the Sixth Meeting of the Heads of Customs Administrations on the next day (12 May 2017).

Project Directors Farid Damirli and Yedil Myrzhakhanov and Research Expert Dastan Almen accompanied Deputy Secretary General Kocaman at the meeting.
