The International Turkic Academy organized a High Level Symposium titled `Synergies Along the Silk Road for Agenda 2030` on 28 March 2016 at the UN Headquarter in New York.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Abzal Saparbekuly accompanied by Project Director Pelin Musabay Baki attended the meeting. At the event, Nobel Prize Laureate Aziz Sancar, renowned historians Edward Allworth and Kemal Karpat received gold medals of the International Turkic Academy.

The symposium organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of independence of Turkic speaking countries was attended by the high representatives of the UN, executives of international organizations, diplomats and renowned scholars.

Deputy Secretary General Abzal Saparbekuly addressed the audience at the panel dedicated to "Reaching Sustainable Development Goals through Enhancing the Silk Road" and informed them of the projects of the Turkic Council to this end.
