The Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkic Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was initialized by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman and Deputy Secretary General the OIC Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru during the 32nd Ministerial Session of the COMCEC on 22 November 2016.
The said MoU aims at strengthening the cooperation between the two organizations with concrete projects and accelerating the process of obtaining the observer status of the Turkic Council at the OIC.
The MoU, which aims at developing the cooperation between the Turkic Council and the OIC through the establishment of legal basis, came to be realized as a result of the declaration outcome of the 13th OIC Summit (held on 14-15 April in Istanbul) and the 43rd Meeting of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (convened on 18-19 October 2016 in Tashkent).
Turkic Council Project Director Mehmet Şefik Yurtçiçek accompanied Deputy Secretary General Kocaman at the stated ceremony.
