The OTS International Forum on Railway Connectivity of Turkic States held in Fergana, Uzbekistan

International Forum of the Organization of Turkic States entitled "Railway Connectivity of the Turkic States: Fergana Valley – Anadolu" took place on 27 April 2023 in Fergana.

The forum was organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Fergana region, the Association of Exporters of Uzbekistan,  the Railway Administrations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and in partnership with the Turkish logistics company “MFA Lojistik”.

The forum brought together more than 120 representatives of top logistics centers and transport companies from the Turkic states and third countries, as well as leading exporters and manufacturers operating in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

In his opening speech, Mayor of Fergana region Mr. Khairullo Bozarov emphasized the vast trade and transport potential of the region and underlined that the construction of China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway would contribute to  significantly increasing the economic, trade, logistics and transport capabilities of the countries of the region. 

Deputy Secretary General Mr. Mirvokhid Azimov addressed the forum and stressed the importance of such for a for enhancing network and collaboration to implement the tasks on increasing competitiveness of transport corridors in the Turkic region, introducing most favourable tariffs for business and creating a modern transport infrastructure as outlined in the Samarkand Declaration, Transport Connectivity Program and Chairmanship Concept of Uzbekistan in the OTS.

The forum participants discussed and shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities for railway transport connectivity between Fergana Valley, which covers several regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and Anadolu. They voiced out several concrete proposals on strengthening the railway potential with a focus on attracting more volumes for multimodal transportation in the Turkic region. The event also featured B2B meetings.
