The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, addressed a Roundtable Discussion co-organized by the Heritage Foundation, Atlantic Council, American Foreign Policy Council, and the Center for International Private Enterprise on February 22, 2024, in Washington DC.
During the roundtable discussion, Secretary General Omuraliev highlighted the pivotal role of the Organization of Turkic States in unlocking the vast potential of trade, transport, and energy corridors passing through Turkic States—an essential network connecting Europe, Asia, and beyond. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration among OTS member states and international partners to effectively harness the opportunities in the region.
The Secretary General underscored the need for concerted efforts to address challenges such as infrastructure gaps, regulatory barriers, and geopolitical complexities to unlock the full potential of these corridors.
Participants in the meeting highlighted the growing relevance of the Turkic region and shared their insights on ways to develop cooperation between the OTS and the United States.
The Panel Session served as a platform for insightful discussions among experts, policymakers, and stakeholders on strategies to advance cooperation and collaboration in realizing the potential of the trade, transport, and energy corridors passing through Turkic States. The parties agreed to maintain this format of discussion in the coming period.
