The OTS Secretary General sent a letter of congratulation to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of Uzbekistan

OTS Secretary General H.E.Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev sent a letter of congratulation to H.E.  Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan who is awarded with the “UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences” on 10 March 2023.

Secretary General praised this important event and indicated that along with Uzbek people the whole Turkic world is proud of its personalities who make significant contributions to the development of global science.

Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov is honoured for developing molecular markers that can be used to identify desirable traits in cotton, such as disease resistance, fibre quality and yield. These markers allow breeders to identify and select plants with these desirable traits more quickly and accurately.

The Prize was established by UNESCO’s Executive Board, to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as UNESCO’s global priorities. The Prize, funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, is given annually to a maximum of three laureates.
