The Press Conference on Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package was held on 24 April 2917 under the chairmanship of Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasanov at the premises of the Turkic Council Secretariat.

The Secretary General Hasanov presented information about the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package and its first fam trip, during the press conference which was attended by the representatives from various media organizations of the member countries and the delegation of the first fam trip.

Secretary General Hasanov, noted the importance of the Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package indicating its first fam trip started from Kayseri on April 21 and expressed that this is a great tour package for those looking for alternative destinations. Secretary General Hasanov stated that it offers a unique experience for discovering the landmarks on the traditional Silk Road in one trip, around the Member States of the Turkic Council, namely Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and underlined that during 14 day trip, participants will have the option to create their preferred itinerary among these destinations.

Secretary General Hasanov also informed that the observations of the participants of the first fam trip will be reflected in the program of the tour with possible changes and that press conferences will continue in other cities in the member countries throughout the fam trip.

By underlining that the Turkic Council’s Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package is not just a tourism project, but has a multi-dimensional structure with economic, social and cultural objectives, Secretary General Hasanov stated that tourism is the language of peace, therefore this project is hoped to contribute to the peace and brotherhood by bringing together people with different cultures and languages.

Secretary General Hasanov also stated that 1 million tourists are expected to visit the Modern Silk Road destination until 2023 and that market researches related to this project were made before the implementation of the project and that various complementary projects will be carried out in different areas within the scope of this project such as related TV shows and competitions.

Emphasizing the importance of carrying out the promotion campaign of the project properly, the indicated that the Turkic Council and the Member States are in a very intensive work in this regard. Therefore, for further strengthening of the promotion of the joint tour package, which will be sold during this year, one term of the tour, will be coincided with Nevruz celebrations in 2018. He also stated that the promotion and implementation of the Joint Tour Package will continue during the 3rd World Nomad Games, which will be organized with the contributions of the Turkic Council in 2018.

Secretary General Hasanov also reffered to the established Consortium among the leading 11 tour operators from the Member States to implement the project and informed that “Antour” was designated as the Coordinator Tour Agency for the Consortium as well as the tour operators of the Consortium signed the Global Code of Ethics of the UNWTO.
Secretary General Hasanov also announced the Turkic Council plans in cooperation with the UNDP and UNOSSC the implementation of rural development projects for tourism within the framework of Joint Tour package.
