The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan H.E. Rashid Meredov
on 27 March 2024 in Ashgabat.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the comprehensive development and strengthening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the Turkic states takes a significant place in the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting the Parties exchanged views on expanding and strengthening multilateral interaction within the framework of the OTS. In this regard, the Turkmen side emphasized that Turkmenistan, as an Observer State takes an active part in the activities of the Organization.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan is interested in considering its partnership with a number of affiliated structures of the OTS, in particular with the Turkic Academy, TURKPA, the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
Moreover, the Parties noted the significance of the Meeting of the Council of Elders of the OTS took place on March 11-12, 2024 in Ashgabat at a high organizational level with the participation of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
They also reaffirmed the importance of the unity of the Turkic world, and stressed significance of the cooperation among the OTS countries in various fields.
