The Secretary General of the Turkic Council met with Chairperson of Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan
Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Chairperson of Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan H.E. Tanzila Narbaeva on 8 February 2021 in Tashkent.
The Secretary General and the Chairperson discussed the current activities within the Turkic Council and exchanged views on the further development of practical cooperation among the Member and Observer States of the Organization in various fields.
B.Amreyev noted that Uzbekistan’s accession into the Turkic Council became an epoch-making step in strengthening the unity of the Turkic World. He mentioned that the accession could be seen primarily as a reflection of natural historical processes as far as Uzbekistan has always been present in the formation of the Turkic Council, and only legal formalities were required. 
Chairperson Narbaeva emphasized that the participation of Uzbekistan in the Turkic Council fully meets the fundamental interests of the people stemming from the age-old common historic roots, culture, identity, and language of the Turkic countries. She also stated that over the past four years, Uzbekistan achieved a qualitative breakthrough in comprehensive relations with all Turkic Council Member and Observer States.
B. Amreyev commended the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in the field of state and social construction, improving the business environment and investment climate, strengthening friendship and good neighborliness with the Turkic countries.
Touching upon the enhancement of inter-parliamentary ties among the Turkic countries, Secretary General Amreyev expressed full support for the decision taken by the Uzbek side to join the TURKPA and wished that all the necessary domestic procedures for the accession would be completed within the shortest period possible.
Parties also discussed the ways to strengthen the role of women and youth in achieving the goals of the Organization.
