Turkic Council convened the 2nd video-conference Meeting of the Supply Chain Group
2nd video-conference Meeting of the Supply Chain Group (SCG) of the Turkic Council held on 21 January 2021 to follow-up the instructions set forth at the Joint Declaration adopted by the Ministers of Health on 30 October 2020 in Istanbul.
The meeting was moderated by Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council and attended by Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, General Manager of International Health Services Inc. of the Ministry of Health of Turkey (USHAŞ), Mr. Elshan Suleymanov, Director of the  Innovation and Procurement Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Gulnara Mukhanova, Director of the Department of Strategy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Osmon Masaliev, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Maftuna Sabirova, representative of Uzmedimpex State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Uzbekistan,  as well as the representatives of the private companies of the Member States included in the Supply Chain Group.
Deputy Secretary General Kocaman briefed the participants on the importance of the SCG in establishing public-private partnerships for joint production of and providing each other with the medicine and medical equipment, as well as exploring opportunities for health infrastructure investments, innovative IT systems and  service procurement.
He also emphasized that the Ministers of Health in their Joint Declaration adopted on 30 October 2020 in Istanbul agreed to encourage the national companies actively participate in the SCG and support each other in providing the necessary medicine and medical equipment, strengthen collaboration on the procurement of critical medical supplies, as well as cooperate on developing new modern hospitals with well-equipped laboratories and units.
Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe provided information on the latest developments in the vaccination process in Turkey and informed the participants that the Turkish side is planning to make a presentation on the process of production of vaccines, their storage and vaccination of population at the next meeting of the Health Scientific Group. She also underlined the determination of the Turkish side to organize the Health Business Forums with the participation of all the Turkic Council Member States that will strengthen the cooperation between the public and private companies included to the Supply Chain Group.
Mr. Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, General Manager of USHAŞ shared their experiences in organizing Health Business Forum in Tashkent with the participation of 56 Uzbek and 46 Turkish companies and underlined the Forum’s role in establishing the G2G and B2B contacts as well as contributions to the development of the trade relations.
He also stated the readiness of the Turkish side to organize such Forums in other Member States under the umbrella of the Turkic Council and proposed to establish permanent working group within the SCG for timely coordinating all the related issues and organizing the similar events.
The Parties supported the proposal and considering the experience and leading role of USHAŞ in organizing such high level events, unanimously supported the candidacy of Mr. Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya to be the Chair of the Supply Chain Group.
The representatives of the companies exchanged information on their needs and requirements for the medical equipment and medications, and agreed to provide the list of essential medicines and medical equipment, test kits, ventilators and other relevant materials to the Secretariat in order to share among the SCG companies.
Considering that next Summits of the Turkic Council will be in Kazakhstan and Turkey, the parties agreed to organize the Health Business Forum in April-May 2021 in Turkistan or in Istanbul.
