Turkic Council convened the First Video-Conference Meeting of the Health Scientific Group
First Video-Conference Meeting of the Health Scientific Group of the Turkic Council was organized on 8 July 2020 for the follow-up and implementation of the decisions taken at the Meeting of the Health Coordination Committee of the Turkic Council held on 8 June 2020.
The meeting was moderated by Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Turkic Council and attended by Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey and Chair of the Health Scientific Group;  Bakyt Dzhangaziev, Deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Kyrgyz Republic; Dr. Samir Abdullayev, Head of International Relations and Public Communication Department of the Republic of Azerbaijan; H.E. Abzal Saparbekuly, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ankara; Damir Kobzhasarov, Director of the National Center of Public Health of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Prof. Ibrahim Mamatkulov, Deputy Director of Tashkent Scientific Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Dr. Agnes Galgoczi, Head of Unit of the National Public Health Center of Hungary.
At the meeting, Secretary General Amreyev briefed the participants on the latest developments and activities conducted by the Secretariat in fight against COVID-19. He underlined the importance of developing multilateral cooperation in the field of microbiology, virology and similar areas within the Health Scientific Group and emphasized the significance of exchanging experiences among the Member States in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dangerous infections as well as creating joint databases, epidemiological studies and scientific research.
Parties discussed the joint cooperation opportunities in developing new methods for the prevention and treatment. Participants also shared the latest developments and statistics in the Member and Observer States and underlined the importance of collaboration and cooperation among the Member States in fight against COVID-19.
Prof. Meşe, made a detailed presentation on the treatment protocols, drug utilization and measures taken by the Republic of Turkey in fight against pandemic. Prof. Meşe stated that Turkey already provided medical aid to Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, also will deliver to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in a short span of time. 
Parties emphasized the importance of developing new methods, drugs, and vaccine to treat and prevent expansion of COVID-19; as well as provided information regarding the ongoing studies to develop vaccines. Participants expressed their readiness to further cooperate in developing vaccine and share their experience with each other to use their scientific potential together.
Based on the proposal of the Kyrgyz Republic and concept paper prepared by the Republic of Uzbekistan, Parties agreed to develop joint software for the establishment of the permanent joint databases and epidemiological monitoring system for joint monitoring, analysis and forecasting of the epidemiological situation within the framework of the Turkic Council. 
Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey agreed to provide training program to the healthcare professionals from the Member States in Urla, İzmir in the second half of August. Turkish side will further organize online training programs in different areas of expertise for the Member States.
At the question and answer session, healthcare specialists from the Republic of Turkey provided detailed information and shared Turkey’s experience in fight against COVID-19 upon the questions raised by the participants.
Parties decided to hold Turkic Council Scientific Group Meeting in every 2 week.
