Over 300 foreign and domestic scholars, the representatives of state, international and public organizations, as well as scholars and experts from 40 countries took part in in the event hosted by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan.
During the Congress, participants discussed the conditions and atmosphere behind the first and second renaissance that took root in Central Asia in the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Turkistan.
Touching upon the great scientific and philosophical achievements of those times by the great thinkers such as Al-Kharezmi, Beruni, Ibn Sina, Al-Fergani, Zamakhshari, Imam Bukhari, Imam Termezi, Yassavi, Moturidi, Nasafi, Alisher Navoi, Kozizoda Rumi, Mirzo Ulugbek, Ali Kushchi, Kamoliddin Behzod, they underlined the importance of preseving and transmitting this legacy through the generations across the Turkic and Islamic World. In addition, some scholars from Europe and America stressed the need for modern techniques to preserve and make faithful reproductions of great masterpieces which belong to the aforementioned great historic figures of the past.
The participants also voiced their belief that the historical prerequisite for these unique periods in the history of all mankind was an atmosphere of enlightenment, freedom of ideas, religious tolerance and humanism created by wise governors which served as an accelerator of science, not only for the region but also for the whole world.
The participants reiterated their convictions that the ongoing transformation in the country at all levels under the wise leadership of Uzbek President Mirziyoyev is actually serving to re-emergence of a new renaissance.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman highlighted that Turkic Council and its affiliated organizations such as TÜRKSOY, Turkic Academy, and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, stay ready to contribute to the implementation of this initiative through comprehensive multilateral cooperation with the relevant authorities of Uzbekistan within the framework of the Council.
Deputy Secretary General also pointed out the irreversible reforms and important steps taken by the Uzbek Government in order to radically improve the life of the people, ensure the rule of law and social justice, innovative development, and the nature of cooperation among the Central Asian countries as well as the Turkic states which reflect the "new face" of Uzbekistan.
At the event, the participants were also briefed on the current activities and efforts under the umbrella of Turkic Council in the fields of culture, tourism, education, and youth affairs as well as on the projects aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage and values of the Turkic world.
