Turkic Council delegation attended to the welcoming ceremony of  “One Belt and One Road” China-Turkey Train on 6 November 2019 in Ankara.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Gısmat Gozalov and Project Director Ali Çiviler attended to the welcoming ceremony of Xi’an-Ankara train that has reached to Turkey through Trans- Caspian route with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway (BTK) within the scope of China’s "One Belt One Road initiative. 

Hosted by H.E. Cahit Turan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, a ceremony was held in Ankara Train Station on 6 November 2019, with the participation of officials from the initiative’s road countries China and Georgia as well as representatives from Member States of the Turkic Council, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey.The Ambassadors of the road countries, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of related institutions and organizations were also present at the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the train left for Prague. The mentioned train is the first freight train that will go from China to Europe without interruption and it is the first freight train to use Marmaray Tube Passage.

This historic voyage through the Trans-Caspian transport corridor is the result of long-standing efforts of Turkic Council’s member states, both under the umbrella of the Turkic Council and at the bilateral level in order to make this corridor an efficient, integrated, sustainable and stable transport line that passes through their territories.
