Turkic Council Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman took part in a conference entitled ‘Astana – the Capital of Great Steppe" and organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ankara on 3 July 2018.

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ankara Abzal Saparbekuly, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Turkey Namık Kemal Zeybek, Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey Yalçın Topçu and Former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Hikmet Çetin made opening speeches at the event.

Following the opening speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was organized for the book entitled ‘Astana – the Capital of Great Steppe’.

After the book presentation ceremony, prominent speakers such as President of Ankara Center For Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM) Prof. Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, President of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, Chairman of the Eurasian Union of Writers Yakup Ömeroğlu, Member of the Board of Directors of YDA Group of Companies Cüneyt Arslan discussed the relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey from theoretical and practical perspectives during the panel, which was moderated by the Chairman of Board of Trustees of Khoja Akhmet Yesevi University Prof. Musa Yıldız.

Following the discussion part of the conference, the event participants took part in the reception held on the occasion of the "20th Anniversary of Astana – the Capital of Kazakhstan”.
