Turkic Council Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman took part in the 4th Regional Networking Forum hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in coordination with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) on 28 June 2018 in Istanbul.

Other partners of the forum, which is aiming at increasing the role of the private sector in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, were United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), Islamic Development Bank and Union for the Mediterranean.

Mentioning about the cooperation of the Turkic Council with UNOSSC and UNDP during his speech at the forum, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman emphasized the particular role Turkic Council assign to the private sector in its activities.

Turkic Council Project Director Pelin Musabay Baki moderated the session on the role of Union for the Mediterranean in enhancing the South-South cooperation in the region.

During the forum, Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) and SESRIC presented their joint publication on the engaging the private sector in skill development. The stated report includes many successful examples in the area.

At the end of the Forum, the senior officials of UNOSSC, IICPSD and SESRIC signed the declaration of intent on the contribution of the private sector to the South-South and triangular cooperation.
