Turkic Council Economy Ministers convened in Astana.
“The First Meeting of Ministers in charge of Economy of the Turkic Council”, which is the first official Ministerial meeting of the Turkic Council, was held in Astana on 13 October 2011.

Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin MUSTAFAYEV, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat KELIMBETOV, Deputy Minister of Economic Regulation of Kyrgyz Republic Sanzhar MUKANBETOV and Minister of Development of the Republic of Turkey Cevdet YILMAZ represented the member states at the meeting, which was moderated by Halil Akıncı, Secretary General of the Turkic Council.

At the meeting, prepatory talks were held with respect to the First Summit of the Turkic Council (20-21 October 2011, Almaty), which has “Economic Cooperation” as its topic. The final communiqué of the meeting, which was widely covered by the press in Kazakhstan, is attached at the link below.  

“Turkic Business Council”, which will hold its inaugural meeting in the framework of the Summit, is to form the business wing of economic cooperation activities. 

As would be recalled, Foreign Ministers of the Turkic Council had held their first unofficial meeting in New York on 24 September 2011.
