Turkic Council International Observer Mission started monitoring the Early Presidential Election of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Turkic Council International Observer Mission headed by the Deputies Secretary General of the Turkic Council Mr. Gismat Gozalov and Dr. Omer Kocaman started monitoring the Early Presidential Election of the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 5, 2019 as two groups in Nur-Sultan and Almaty. The delegations for the International Observer Mission comprised of the officials of the Turkic Council Secretariat, as well as the Central Election Committee representatives, academicians and government officials of the Member States other than Kazakhstan –namely; Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
In the framework of pre-election contacts, members of the delegations met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Roman Vasilenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Berik Imashev, Chairman of the Election Commission of Almaty city, Zhanna Asanova, as well as with the candidates running for the Presidential Election and their representatives in two cities.
The delegation also had meetings at the Executive Powers (Akimat) of Nur-Sultan and Almaty cities and got information on relevant issues, including the administrative preparations and security measures taken in the framework of the electoral process.
During the meeting the delegations got acquainted with the preparations of Central and Territorial Election Commissions and the candidates for the Early Presidential Election scheduled for June 9, 2019, as well as received detailed information about the legal background of the election, the election preparation process, and campaign activities of the candidates.
Hasan Kazimzade, Representative of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan; Almazbek Ergeshov and Urmatbek Samaev, Members of Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic; Ambassador Metin Kılıç, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Gismat Gozalov; and Project Directors Zhyldyz Uzakova and Özge Pan participated in the meetings in Nur-Sultan.
Eibar Guliyev, Representative of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan; Mirlan Konurbayev, and Aybek Omuraliyev, representatives of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic; Yunus Çolak, Academician at Istanbul University; Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council; Project Directors Ali Çiviler and Farrukh Jumayev; and Research Expert Dastan Almen attended the meetings held in Almaty.
The Report to be prepared by the Turkic Council Observation Mission in the aftermath of the Election will be submitted to the Member States and relevant International Organizations. The Mission will hold a Press Conference on 10 June 2019 in Nur-Sultan to share its assessment concerning the Election with national and international media outlets.
