Turkic Council Project Director Jeyhun Shahverdiyev participated in the Seminar on Legislation related to the Genetically Modified Organisms and Waste Management and their implementation in the Turkic Speaking States held on 16 April 2018 in Istanbul.
The seminars were organized by the TURKPA Commission on Environment and Natural Recourses with collaboration the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Commission Chairman Prof.Dr. Ahliman Amiraslanov and Mr. Feyzullah Kıyıklık, MP from Turkey delivered an opening remarks and member countries made presentations about how their national legislations bans GMOs because of health problems, environmental damage, and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights. Second presentations were about the current situation in their countries related to waste management.

Project director Shahverdiyev actively participated in the both discussions and emphasized the need for development of biotechnology in the Member countries.
In the end, the participants accepted Report on both issues to be submitted to the next session of TURKPA.
