Turkic Council Project Directors participated in a side event of the UN General Assembly entitled “Partnerships for Inclusive Growth: Private Sector Investment in the SDGs”.

Within the framework of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, Turkic Council Project Directors Assan Mazhitov and Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, participated the side event entitled "Partnerships for Inclusive Growth: Private Sector investment in the SDGs" co-hosted by the Ministry of Development of the Republic of Turkey, Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development and UNDP on 22 September 2017 in New York.

The event underlined the catalytic role of partnerships in advancing market based opportunities for all including through the contributions of UNDP’s global private sector unit – Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development, its partnerships and initiatives to SDG implementation.

In opening session Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Turkey and Mr. Magdy Martinez-Soliman, UNDP Assistant-Administrator and Director BPPS underlined that governments, businesses and development organizations should mobilize and align resources, unlock innovation and deliver sustainable solutions at a country level including investing in social impact.

Later, round table discussions on available SDG investment opportunities were held with representatives of Islamic Development Bank, IBM International Foundation, Master Card, Rockefeller Foundation and Deloitte.

Project Directors had contacts with the organizers and the participants of the event and informed them about the activities of the Turkic Council and possible areas of cooperation.
