Turkic Council Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman and Project Director Ali Çiviler attended the 1st World Ethnosport Workshop organized by World Ethnosport Confederation on 7-8 October 2017 in Istanbul.
The representatives of Ethnosport Federation coming from 15 countries to attend the workshop discussed the present situation of the Ethnosports, the problems they face and the steps needed to be taken for Ethnosports to gain in popularity.
As part of the two-day workshop, the Turkic Council’s experience of World Nomad Games was shared with the participants. In addition, the parties discussed the importance of giving place to traditional sports games in the activities taken place in the framework of the Youth Camps, Youth Festivals, University Sports Games and Youth Platform operating under the aegis of the Turkic Council, which was also noted to be a significant step in the terms of the promotion of the Ethnosports.
