In the framework of his official contacts in Astana, Turkic Council Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasanov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov on 4 April 2017 at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Secretary General Hasanov informed Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdrakhmanov about the activities of the Turkic Council in general and thanked for hospitality in the course of his visit to Astana.
Secretary General Hasanov continued brief on the work carried out by the Council for the purpose of obtaining observer status in United Nations. He also conveyed that Turkic Council will be actively involved within the scope of Astana-Expo 2017 giving information about the preparations in this direction. Furthermore, he reported about the prospective Meetings of Turkic Council Ministers in charge of Youth and Sport, Turkic Council Ministers in charge of Culture and Tourism and the Meeting of Turkic Council Energy Ministers, which is going to be held for the first time. The said events are expected to be held in the coming May and June.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdrakhmanov stated that, as the state of the Republic of Kazakhstan, they closely follow all activities of the Turkic Council and are satisfied with the work done so far adding that the ongoing support will continue to increase.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdrakhmanov also pointed out the importance of referring to the other countries involved in the activities of the Turkic Council and conveyed his views to the Secretary General Hasanov on the continuation of efforts in this regard.
Furthermore, Secretary General Hasanov presented the Activity Report of the Turkic Council for 2016, brochure of the international conference commemorating the “Khojaly Genocide” taken place in Ankara and brochure of the international conference on the “Role of Youth in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism” co-organized earlier with UNAOC to Minister Abdrakhmanov and reported about the activities of the Council with other international organizations.
Turkic Council Deputy Secretary General Abzal Saparbekuly, Project Director Assan Mazhitov and Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied Secretary General Hasanov during the meeting.
