Turkic Council Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasanov was unanimously elected as the Vice President of the SIGA Alliance at the “Sport Integrity Global Alliance” (SIGA) General Assembly that was held on 31 January 2018 in Rome.
The representatives of the government of Italy, Deputy Ministers of Sports of various countries and high-level authorities coming from the relevant institutions and international organizations from around 100 countries discussed the founding documents, organizational structure and future projection of the SIGA, of which Turkic Council is a founding member.
During the General Assembly, significant new members such as MasterCard and Qatar Airways became new members of the SIGA whose primary goal is to increase the unifying force of sport, protect the integrity and ethics code in sport, ensure equal opportunities and prevent corruption.
Internationally-recognized politician, Franco Frattini, who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy and Vice-President of the European Commission, is currently the Chairman of the SIGA Alliance. The platform also comprises some government representatives and well-known international organizations and companies such as UNESCO, La Liga, Deloitte and MasterCard.
In addition, taking into account the active work of the Turkic Council in the field of youth, the Project Director Ali Çiviler was elected as a member of the Standing Committee on Youth Development and Protection at the elections held in the General Assembly for the internal organs of SIGA.
On the occasion of the General Assembly, Secretary General Hasanov also held several bilateral meetings, first and foremost with the SIGA Chairman Franco Frattini, ICSS President Mohammed Hanzab and SIGA Coordinator Emanuel Medeiros. During the contacts, he informed his counterparts about the activities carried out by the Turkic Council in the field of youth and sports and made evaluations regarding the prospective steps to be taken within the scope of SIGA.
During the General Assembly and the bilateral meetings, Secretary General Hasanov was accompanied by the Project Director Ali Çiviler and Deputy Chief of Protocol Araz Salmanov.
