Secretary General Hasanov, who is in Baku for various official programs, visited Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday, 2 August 2017 in his office.
During the meeting, Secretary General Hasanov informed the Minister Mammadyarov about preparations for the unofficial meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Turkic Council, which has become traditional and which will take place at the margins of the General Assembly of the United Nations in September. In particular, Secretary General and the Minister discussed the agenda items which ministers will discuss at the meeting with a special emphasis on the Turkic Council`s bid to gain observer status at the UN General Assembly. Secretary General Hasanov also gave information about the Turkic Council Youth Camp which was held in July in Kazakhstan and the First International Professional Kick Boxing Tournament of the Turkic Council Countries which took place in Baku. The two events have been organized within the framework of Turkic Council’s activities in the field of Youth and Sports, which is at the same time the title of the next Summit of Heads of State.
Secretary General Hasanov also presented brief information to Minister Mammadyarov on the Turkic Council Junior Diplomats Training Program held in July in Kyrgyzstan. He also presented steps taken in tourism and transport fields with their outcomes.
Finally, Secretary General Hasanov invited Minister Mammadyarov to the UNOSSC EXPO, which will be organized by the Turkic Council and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and will be hosted by the Republic of Turkey in Antalya.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov thanked Secretary General Hasanov for his visit and for the information he conveyed as well as expressed his satisfaction with the ascending graph of the Turkic Council. He also underlined that the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to support the Turkic Council in all of its activities.
In addition, Minister Mammadyarov congratulated Secretary General Hasanov with being awarded the Golden Medal of the Crans Montana Forum. He expressed the pride in Secretary General’s achievement and wished the continuation of his success.
