Turkic Council Secretary General attended 14th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization
Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev participated in the 14th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) hosted by the Republic of Turkey on 4 March 2021. The Summit was held virtually with the theme of “Regional Economic Cooperation in the Aftermath of Covid-19” and was chaired by the President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Summit was attended by the President of Afghanistan H.E. Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Hassan Rouhani, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Sadyr Japarov, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Imran Khan, the President of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, the President  of Turkmenistan H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus H.E. Ersin Tatar, the Secretary General of ECO H.E. Hadi Soleimanpour, Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev and the Secretary General of the Energy Charter Dr Urban Rusnák.
At the Summit, Secretary General B. Amreyev made a speech and shared the Turkic Council's vision of current and future opportunities for cooperation between the Member States of the Turkic Council and ECO.
The Head of the Turkic Council emphasized the importance of new approaches to the development of economic cooperation in the region during and after the pandemic by developing new mechanisms to stimulate trade, liberalize customs procedures, and diversify transport routes, as well as taking advantage of digital opportunities.
