Turkic States Pioneering World’s First “ePermit” Project Implementation

The Meeting of Experts on the implementation of the "ePermit" project within the Turkic region was held on 29-30 May 2024 in Istanbul. Co-hosted by the OTS Secretariat and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, the event brought together officials and IT experts from the Ministries in charge of Transport of the Member States and Turkmenistan.

The parties exchanged views on recent developments regarding the extension of the "ePermit" project in the Turkic region in accordance with the Transport Connectivity Program and its Action Plan for 2023-2026. 

The parties highlighted that the “ePermit” initiative represents a groundbreaking effort within the OTS in the field of digitalizing transport and logistics within the Turkic region, setting a precedent as the first of its kind in the world. This project aims to streamline operations, reduce transit times and costs, and enhance the region's competitiveness on the global stage.

During the meeting, experts emphasized the instructions from the Heads of State at the Astana Summit, where the Presidents expressed satisfaction with the operationalization of the "ePermit" project between Türkiye and Uzbekistan. They also encouraged relevant institutions in the Member States to implement the project, leveraging the experiences of both countries.

Following the meeting, the parties discussed and finalized the Application Principles of the "ePermit" project. They also addressed issues related to the integration of national systems and agreed on further steps necessary for the implementation of the project.
