The inaugural meeting of Heads of National Transport Associations of the Member and Observer States of the OTS was held on 6 March 2024 at the premises of the OTS Secretariat in Istanbul.

The meeting, attended by Heads of National Transport Associations of the Member and Observer States and representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), aimed to discuss avenues of collaboration among the Associations and collective efforts towards advancing transport connectivity within the Turkic region.

During the meeting, the Parties agreed to establish a Union of Road Transport Associations of the OTS to promote the common interests of the private sector, enhance practical cooperation, and fortify the transport capabilities of Turkic countries, in alignment with the strategic framework "Turkic World Vision - 2040".

The participants also exchanged views on common challenges and bottlenecks faced in transport and transit operations in the Turkic region and determined further steps, including carrying out demonstration tours to identify bottlenecks and exploring the potential of transport corridors, as well as the digitalization of transport and transit procedures.
